On January 13, 2025, the 2025 Convention Between Carriers and Ports for Ocean Alliance was successfully held in Boao, Hainan. Featuring the theme of “Digital Intelligence Drives Green Transition of Supply Chain”, the event was attended by Mr. Gu Gang, Vice Governor of Hainan Provincial People's Government; Mr. He Jianzhong, Chairman of China Institute of Navigation; and Mr. Xu Lirong, Chairman of China Shipowners Mutual Assurance Association. It attracted the representatives from Ocean Alliance members, global port and shipping enterprises, major supply chain partners, celebrated experts and scholars, and a number of mainstream media. They met together to exchange views with each other and shed light on the future development of the Ocean Alliance and the cooperation of global port and shipping industry.
Mr. Wan Min, Chairman of COSCO SHIPPING Group, addressed audiences at the convention that the Group would combat the uncertainties in global market by creating certainty through cooperation between market players in ports and shipping sector. He called for joint efforts to build a highly efficient, stable and safe global supply chain service system, thereby fostering the development of ports and shipping sector and promoting prosperous growth of China's economy and trade with the rest of the world.
Mr. Gu Gang, Vice Governor of Hainan Provincial People's Government, applauded in his speech the long-lasting contributions of various port and shipping enterprises in promoting technological innovation and green and low-carbon development of port and shipping sector. He added that the provincial government would work with port and shipping enterprises to promote digital, intelligent and green transformation of the shipping industry, and to drive the high-quality development of global shipping services.
At the convention, the Ocean Alliance members reviewed their cooperation and collaborative development over the past eight years, and grandly released the DAY9 route products. Besides, they carried out in-depth discussions with representatives of global port operators and reached a consensus on “the integration of ports and shipping services to promote win-win development”, the deepening of digital supply chain cooperation between ports and shipping operators, digital intelligence and green and low-carbon development, along with the release of the “Boao Initiative 2025”.
At the same time, prominent industry leaders from government agencies, trade associations, shipping, ports, railway, logistics and trade sectors and universities conducted a seminar featuring the theme of “Green and Intelligent Supply Chain for Future” on digital, intelligent and green development of ports and shipping sector. They shared their sharp insight into the latest developments of their respective fields. They explored new ideas, new initiatives and new practices to enhance the stability, efficiency and resilience of global supply chain, and jointly inspired the development of new concepts, new cooperation and new ecology to drive the new quality development through the integration of global ports shipping and trade services.
