On July 12 local time, COSCO SHIPPING Holdings successfully launched the CHX3(Chancay Express 3) feeder service, providing regular weekly services between the Ports of Paita and Chancay in Peru and the Port of Caldera in Costa Rica. This feeder service marks a new initiative by COSCO SHIPPING Holdings to deepen its presence along the West Coast of South America. Leveraging the Port of Chancay as the core transshipment hub, the CHX3 connects it with the Port of Paita in Peru and the Port of Caldera in Costa Rica, thereby strengthening the development of foreign trade corridors for both countries.

As the key container and cold-chain hub in northern Peru, the Port of Paita serves major industrial centers such as Piura, Lambayeque and Cajamarca, bringing together numerous foreign trade enterprises in agricultural products, processed seafood, minerals, textiles and other sectors. With the launch of the CHX3 feeder service, local enterprises gain direct access to the Port of Chancay from local the local Port of Paita, thus achievinga seamless connection to Asia-bound main-trunk services. This streamlined and efficient transshipment route not only significantly reduces logistics transit time and lowers overall costs—including land transportation, warehousing and container detention charges—for customers, but also precisely meets their cold-chain export requirements for perishable goods such as avocados, grapes and seafood, thereby effectively ensuring the cargo integrity.

Peruvian fruit merchants noted that this feeder service provided direct access to the hub port in Chancay and connects to trans-Pacific main-trunk routes. It would effectively shorten the total transportation time for fresh fruit, reduce the risk of cargo damage, and simultaneously cut costs related to multiple transshipment points, thereby further expanding export channels for fresh fruit to Asian markets.

At the same time, the new feeder service allows the transfer of cargoes from thePort of Caldera in Costa Rica through a brand-new transshipment route, which not only significantly shortens overall logistics transit time, but also remarkably enhances delivery reliability and customer service quality, hence ensuring stable cargo delivery from the sources.
