With the departure of MV Xin Taicang from Haiphong Port laden with chemicals, photovoltaic glass, construction materials and other cargoes, COSCO SHIPPING Holdings has successfully completed the maiden call at Haiphong, Vietnam for the newly launched boutique route service – Southeast Asia India Service 2 (SEI2). This service offers the first direct connection between Northern Vietnam and India, which is poised to propel the trade flowsamong China, Vietnam and the Far East–South Asia tradecorridor.

Leveraging Haiphong as a core hub in Northern Vietnam together with the support of professional vessel deployment and precision schedule management, it takes onlyapproximately 15 days for direct shipment from Northern Vietnam to the Port of Mundra in India. The journey is thus shortened by 5-7 days compared with previous transshipment routes, and the logistics efficiency and supply chain responsiveness is significantly enhanced. SEI2 operates on a closed-loop model with the sequence of port calls as follows: Qinzhou – Yangpu – Haiphong – Singapore – Mundra – Singapore – Hong Kong – Qinzhou. Our professional vessel configuration ensures the punctuality rate and transportation efficiency of this bi-weekly shipping service, which drives the continuinggrowth of regional and cross‑border shipping services.
The launch of SEI2marks an important milestone for the company’s initiative to support China’s strategy to promote “domestic-internationaldual circulation” and the integrative development of the New Western Land–Sea Corridor and the Hainan Free Trade Port. It provides an efficient, diversified and cost‑effective logistics channel for local manufacturers of paper products, chemicals, grain, oil and other products in Hainanto directly export their cargoes to South Asia. This new service enhances the export efficiency of local products, broadens their overseas sales channels, and deepens logistics and trade connectivity between Hainan, Southeast Asia and South Asia. Going forward, the company will push for integrative development of SEI2 with existing boutiqueservices such as PMX and CI1, further enhancing network connectivity, transshipment capacity and end‑to‑end operational performance — thereby helping customers tocapture new opportunities arising in the Far East–South Asia trade corridor.
