On March 6, the COSCO SHIPPING LILY was officially named and unveiled. The vessel marks the completion of the first batch of 16,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel container vessels built by COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) for COSCO SHIPPING Lines, a subsidiary of COSCO SHIPPING Holdings.

With an overall length of 366 meters and a beam of 51 meters, the vessel features a deck area larger than three standard football pitches. An intelligent centralized control system enables smart, end-to-end management of vessel operations. The ship is equipped with methanol dual-fuel generators and marine dual-fuel boilers. Its “pin-shaped” methanol fuel tank layout optimizes space utilization. Compared with conventional fuel-powered vessels, each ship can reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 120,000 tons per year, with an Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) performance exceeding the baseline by more than 50%.
The COSCO SHIPPING LILY is expected to be deployed on the South China–U.S. Southwest E-commerce Express (SEA) service, injecting strong momentum into the green transformation of the COSCO SHIPPING fleet. COSCO SHIPPING Holdings will continue to leverage green capacity to safeguard the stability and smooth operation of global supply chains, charting a new course for green shipping through innovation.
