With the compliance rate of over 90%, COSCO SHIPPING Lines and OOCL, the subsidiaries of COSCO SHIPPING Holdings, have recently won the top-tier “Star Sapphire” award in the 2026 mid-season report released by the American “Protecting Blue Whales and Blue Skies” (BWBS) program. These accolades signify that both companies are the front-runners of global green shipping and their practices in marine ecosystem protection are highly recognized by the authoritative international body. The awards showcase their unwavering commitment to global green shipping, their dedication to ESG sustainability principles, and their fulfillment of global responsibilities.

Data shows that the vessels operated by participating companies travelled more than 370,000 nautical miles in the protected areas during the year with an overall compliance rate of 83%. It is noteworthy that the compliance rate of COSCO SHIPPING Holdings’ fleet outperformed the global shipping industry average and climbed to over 90%. This clearly demonstrates our capabilities to implement standardized and refined global shipping management.
It seems that voluntary slow steaming is simply an adjustment of speed. But in reality, it imposes rigorous requirements on vessel scheduling, route planning, timeliness control and cost management.

While ensuring the stable performance of our global supply chain, COSCO SHIPPING Holdings strived hard to protect the marine ecosystem by leveraging our mature global shipping operations system and intelligent vessel management platform to precisely plan the Trans-Pacific trunk routes and to dynamically optimize the fleet schedule. As the Company’s fleet strictly adheres to California’s requirement of sailing at speeds of 10 knots or less within designated protected zones, we maintain the smooth flow of global trade and ensure punctual delivery of logistics service, thereby fulfilling our commitment to protect the ecosystem at a high standard.

Being a shipping enterprise deeply and consistently involved in the BWBS program, the Company has adhered to green navigation regulations in California waters for many consecutive years. And we have repeatedly earned top honors for our high compliance standards. By upholding our long-term commitment, the Company has successfully stricken a balance between shipping development and ecological preservation, offering solutions and support for global maritime ecological governance.
